About the Event

Oscar Foss Memorial Library is collaborating with T.L. Storer Scout Reservation, with nearly 1000 acres with two ponds and a regenerative agriculture ranch in development. We'll have easy hikes and nature journal workshops to record what we see using a variety of methods.

April is also Citizen Science month! Let's celebrate on Earth Day by going outside and making observations. This is an opportunity to bring science and art together creatively, share knowledge of wildlife, and connect with others interested in environmental education.

*Remember scientist sketches record and communicate information, which is different from drawing to make art.* One does not need to be an "artist" to nature journal. Some art supplies will be provided (watercolor paints, watercolor paper, sketching pencils, and more). Attendees are invited to record information by writing notes, creating images, poems, scribbles, .. participate in whichever way is meaningful to you. The goal is to go outside, make observations, ask questions, and celebrate citizen science. The event is open to everyone (all ages, abilities), but please sign up with the library in advance.

Volunteers can participate, as well as, assist on hikes and helping community members as needed.

What to bring

Please dress for the weather and bring any foods and water you may need. You are welcome to bring family, and any supplies helpful to you (binoculars, field guides, notebook...).
