About the Event

Help improve an all-persons trail at Northwood Meadows—move material, shape the trail, and be part of a project that makes the outdoors more accessible for everyone.

Join us at Northwood Meadows State Park for a hands-on National Trails Day volunteer project focused on improving an all-persons trail—a trail designed so people of all abilities can experience the outdoors.

This is a team-based, beginner-friendly trail work day where you’ll work alongside others to move and shape trail material using wheelbarrows, shovels, rakes, and tampers. Whether you’re new to trail work or have experience, you’ll be contributing to something tangible and lasting.

Accessible trails don’t happen by accident, they are intentionally built and maintained.

You’ll leave knowing exactly what you helped create, with visible progress on the ground and a direct impact on your local community.

As part of National Trails Day, you’re also joining a nationwide movement of people coming together to improve trails and public lands—all in a single day. What To Expect:

  • A welcoming, supportive environment (no experience needed)
  • Clear instruction and tools provided on-site
  • Light-to-moderate physical activity (lifting, moving material, shaping trail surface)
  • Work at your own pace—jump in where you’re comfortable
  • A mix of productivity and social connection with others in your community

What to bring

-Work gloves -Sturdy shoes or boots (no sandals or open-toe) -Bug repellant -Water, lunch, and snacks -Muscles and/or amusing stories
