Detailed information about the accessibility of trails in NH can be hard to find and understand. Join SELT and UNH Extension for an information session to learn more about how you can help!

SELT owns a machine called the HETAP (you can learn more about it here), a high-tech data collection tool that is used to improve the information available about accessible trails. SELT would like to start a new volunteer program and train volunteers to use the machine so it could be used by other organizations and communities in NH! If you’re passionate about getting outside, like data or just want to learn more please join us!

The session will involve some time indoors learning about the machine and the data collection process and then some in the field time seeing the machine in action.

Essential Eligibility Criteria:

Interested volunteers will be trained in Spring 2027 and asked to collect data at least 2 trails over the course of 2027. This data collection involves prolonged time outside, standing and hiking at least 2 miles.
