About the Event
Sugaring season is almost upon us! To celebrate this wonderful time of the year, the Upper Valley Land Trust will be partnering with Brackett Brook Farm for a maple sugaring workshop and tour of their sugarbush. We will meet with Brackett Brook Farm’s owner Harry Pease for a boiling demonstration at the sugarhouse, in his wood-fired evaporator, where we’ll not only learn about the sugaring process, but also the deep rooted history of this multi-generation farm. After enjoying some syrup samples, the group will walk out into the sugarbush area of the property and learn tree identification tips from UVLT Staff along the way. We will explore the sugarbush with over 700 sap buckets actively collecting from the trees the traditional way. Harry will provide a demonstration of the tree tapping process, including tree selection, tap location and depth, and the number of taps. Upon our return to the sugarhouse, we will enjoy a SECOND maple treat to wrap up our day!
