About the Event

The fields around Burley Farms in Epping, NH are gorgeous this time of year. Butterflies, birds and bees are everywhere...but the managers at Southeast Land Trust also found a new invasive plant growing amidst the grasses and wildflowers. Brown knapweed is a threat to native plants and healthy farm fields (though kind of pretty, we admit). We need volunteer help NOW to remove it before the fields are hayed this fall. We don't want to spread it to other properties!

Come join us (before work maybe?) and lend a hand to help protect nature. No experience necessary. We promise lots of butterfly and bird sightings - and you'll get to work alongside fun SELT staff and volunteers. We'll be digging up the plants with shovels, so the challenge level should be similar to digging potatoes in your garden. We'll supply gloves and shovels, you supply the energy and helping hands!

What to bring

Long pants, tall boots (or hiking boots with socks to tuck in pants), sun hat, bug repellent or sun screen, water, snacks.

Youth Instructions
