About the Event
Please join us to help count baby oysters as part of a local restoration project! We have several small cages filled with oyster shells that have oyster spat (baby oysters) attached to them. These baby oysters lived at volunteer sites around Great Bay for 2 months this summer where they thrived and were protected from predators. We need your help to count and measure oyster spat from these cages to get an idea of how many oysters there are per cage and which ones grew best. Later this fall, once we collect all the data we need, these oysters will be placed on a carefully chosen restoration area in Great Bay.
