About the Event
Get to know the plants and wildlife found in and around Norway Pond during this walk on September 25th from 9-11am in Hancock. This identification walk will be led by professional ecologists Jeff Littleton and Steven Lamonde from Moosewood Ecological, LLC. Participants will explore the ecology of the pond area and learn to identify a variety of wetland plants and wildlife.
Jeffry Littleton is the founder and principal ecologist with Moosewood Ecological LLC, having more than 30 years of experience in ecological studies and environmental education. Jeffry serves as adjunct faculty at Antioch University where he provides course instruction on forest community ecology and inventory techniques for wildlife and their habitats, as well as plants and natural communities. Steven Lamonde grew up along Massachusetts’ South Shore where he developed a deep curiosity for all things wild. After receiving a B.S. from Johnson State College in Environmental Science, Steven moved to the Monadnock Region to pursue an M.S. in Conservation Biology at Antioch University New England. Steven now works as an ecologist and project manager for Moosewood Ecological while teaching part-time as an affiliate professor at Antioch University.
This walk is being held as part of the 2021 NH BioBlitz, an effort to get community members out exploring species on town-owned lands all over New Hampshire during the month of September. Attendees are welcome to participate in the BioBlitz effort by submitting their wildlife and plant observations to iNaturalist. This event is free, but space is limited due to current UNH COVID-related policies. Registration is required. COVID-19 Safety Precautions: Group size is limited and the entire program will be held outdoors. Participants will be required to complete a simple online health screening before leaving home. Additional information will be sent upon registration.
