About the Event

Our new volunteer Tree Team is hosting its first event on Friday, March 27, 3-5 pm, at Brookmead Conservation Area in Norwich, VT. Outdoor Program Leader Holly Henderson is leading a short hike to collect cuttings from various native trees and discuss tree ID techniques along the way. Cuttings will be planted in an air prune box (a planting container that helps develop fibrous root systems) as the start of a small-scale conservation tree nursery supporting future forest stewardship efforts in the Upper Valley. We will also learn how to make “willow tea”, a natural DIY rooting growth hormone for our tree cuttings!

What to bring

Field clothes, sturdy shoes, and water.

Youth Instructions

Volunteers ages 15-18 need parental consent and volunteers under age 15 require adult supervision.
