About the Event

Piscataquog River Park is a great place to hang out by the Piscataquog River in Manchester, NH. Unfortunately, it has been taken over by round leaf bittersweet (also commonly known as oriental bittersweet). This invasive vine can grow up to 15 feet per year and competes with our native vegetation. Help us remove the bittersweet from the park and keep this invasive species under control!

We will be hosting a volunteer day on March 23, 2024 from 10 am -12 pm. We'll meet at the baseball diamond at the George W. Smith Complex in Manchester, where there is plenty of parking. All ages are welcome! While we normally encourage you to bring your pets to enjoy the park, please leave any furry friends at home since we'll be using sharp tools during these events.

What to bring

Dress for winter! So bring warm clothes, boots, gloves, and a hat. We'll have hot drinks and snacks, but bring a water bottle to stay hydrated. We'll provide work gloves and hand snips. The ground may be icy in places, so wear good shoes and bring micro spikes if you are concerned about slipping

Youth Instructions

Volunteers under 18 will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
