About the Event
Want to learn more about the Seacoast Science Center's Marine Mammal Rescue program?! Then come to Creek Farm and enjoy an evening with Ashley Stokes, Marine Mammal rescue Coordintor where she'll tell you all about it (and how YOU can help!). The Marine Mammal Rescue Program is the federally authorized organization responsible for responding to all live and dead marine mammals from Essex, Massachusetts northward to the Maine border. Within this territory, the team not only responds to seals, but also whales, dolphins, and porpoises. Annually, the team responds to approximately 115 marine mammal cases, but in 2018 that number more than doubled and the team closed out the year with 298 cases. Are you wondering why that is, and what the team has been up to so far this year?
Join us for this free event to learn more about what the marine mammal rescue team does, which species should and should not be found on the beach, what to do if you spot a live or dead marine mammal, recent success stories, and have a chance to ask your questions! Light Refreshments will be provided!
