About the Event
Join us in planting native dune vegetation to restore the dunes near Plaice Cove in Hampton, NH! This area has been affected over the years by winter storms, and we need your help in planting beachgrass and other native species to help stabilize this unique habitat. We will be transplanting plants that were harvested the day prior (sign up for the May 5 workday).
Come learn about dunes, get sandy, and have fun!
Volunteers will also help prepare the site for future ecological restoration. Activities will include raking and clearing debris, lopping branches, and removing invasive shrubs and young trees. These efforts will open up space for native plants, improve habitat quality, and set the stage for long-term restoration success.
Physical Requirements:
This role is active and outdoors. Volunteers should be comfortable working on uneven terrain, bending, lifting, and using hand tools. Expect moderate activity, including repetitive motions and carrying light to moderate loads. No prior experience required—just a willingness to get a little dirty, work as part of a team, and enjoy the satisfaction of making a visible difference in the landscape!
