About the Event

Join the Hampton Conservation Commission on National Public Lands day to take an in-depth look at a piece of conservation land.

In celebration of Hampton's recently completed Natural Resource Inventory, the Commission will be hosting a BioBlitz to inventory the flora and fauna at the Car Barn Pond property located on Timber Swamp Rd.

What is a BioBlitz? It is a species scavenger hunt where volunteers help find and record data on as many different species as possible in a certain area and a short amount of time. Participants will share their findings using iNaturalist, where the final number of species identified will be tallied.

No experience necessary as we will have experts joining us to help with identification!

Parking is available at the Hampton Park and Ride on Timber Swamp Rd. in Hampton. Pre-registration is required.

What to bring

Come prepared to spend the morning outside! Bring a water bottle and a camera and/or phone to take pictures and download the iNaturalist app ahead of time if you are able! We will provide a light breakfast, coffee, tea, snacks, a water bottle filling station, bug spray and helpful identification materials. Please be aware, there is no bathroom on site.

Youth Instructions

All ages are welcome but we kindly ask that children are accompanied by a guardian.
