About the Event

Volunteer with Lakes Region Conservation Corps members for a half day of water sampling from 9:00am to 1:00pm! We will head out onto the ice, drill a hole, and conduct a variety of tests on the water for analyzing!

Our Lakes Region Conservation Corps AmeriCorps members head out on the ice weekly to monitor water quality sites. Volunteers can join our AmeriCorps members to learn about water quality on Squam. This is a great option for volunteers that are interested in learning more about ice safety and water quality.

Unlike our summer monitoring, which requires a boat, our winter program volunteers access the lake on foot or skis. This is a great opportunity to learn a new skill, trained by SLA's team of conservation professionals. As always, this work is weather dependent. Should any changes to plans arise, we will provide updates. We encourage help from volunteers who love the outdoors, enjoy hands-on conservation work, and are excited to work with our LRCC members!

What to bring

Appropriate winter clothing, food, water, microspikes and/or snowshoes (SLA can lend snowshoes and microspikes to volunteers who do not have their own). The lead for the day will contact you with information about where to meet along with any event specific information a day or two before the day of the event.
