About the Event
Each spring and fall, Harris Center staff, students, and citizen scientists monitor a series of study plots as part of SPARCnet, a collaborative research effort aimed at understanding the effects of climate change on redbacked salamanders (Plethodon cinereus). To see what it’s all about, join us for an afternoon of monitoring.
We’ll start at the Harris Center with a brief introduction to redbacked salamander ecology and to our study methods, then head into the woods to survey for salamanders. No experience necessary!
What to bring
Dress for the weather, and be prepared for a short, off-trail walk in the woods.
Youth Instructions
Youth volunteers (age 8 and up) are welcome, but must be accompanied by an adult.
