About the Event

AMC's Highland Center, in Crawford Notch, is looking for new Information Volunteers to welcome visitors, orient them to the facility, give trail advice, talk about hiking, assist guests borrowing hiking gear, and promote AMC's mission – connecting people with the outdoors.

Essential Qualifications: recent experience hiking trails in the Crawford Notch area, ability to read trail maps, familiarity with hiking gear, a friendly personality, and the ability to communicate well with hikers from all backgrounds and all levels of hiking experience. The best fit for a new Info Vol at the Highland Center is someone who loves hiking, loves the Highland Center, has recently hiked trails in the Crawford Notch area, and enjoys talking with other hikers -- especially folks who may be novice hikers.

Benefits: Free meals & lodging, and retail discounts!

Training: Training includes an in-person day on Saturday, June 7th, as well as a few online sessions through Zoom in May.

Time Commitment: Volunteers commit to volunteering at least 4 days a year (additional volunteering is welcome!), for at least three years. The biggest need for new Highland volunteers is for summer weekends and/or weekdays, but volunteer opportunities are available year-round. New volunteers start in the summer.

*Please note that the date listed on Nature Groupie is a tentative deadline for expressing interest because the volunteer roster may fill up early. The actual volunteering dates for new volunteers would be in June, July, and/or August.

To Learn More: Reach out to Kyra Salancy, Volunteer Programs Manager, at amcvolservices@outdoors.org. Some volunteer roles fill up early, so please reach out now (February) if you may be interested.
