About the Event

The Lancaster Conservation Commission, The Northern Forest Center, and the Appalachian Mountain Club are teaming up to improve the section of the Heritage Trail between Reed Road and Portland Street (Route 2).

Two, day-long volunteer work days have been scheduled for this October: Saturday, October 19, 2024 and Saturday, October 26, 2024. Registration is required to be sure AMC has enough safety gear and tools for all participants.

Volunteers will be installing bog bridges on the Heritage Trail between Reed Road near Weeks State Park and RT 2 near downtown Lancaster. Experienced Appalachian Mountain Club Trails Department staff will provide instruction on the building process. The day will begin with a safety briefing and tool talk and participants will be given an overview of the project. This event is open to everyone, and you do not need any trail work experience to join.
