About the Event

Bear-Paw will be hosting Biothons at our two new preserves in Deerfield and Strafford. Our goals for these Biothons are to collect a complete list of species that grows, walks, swims, crawls, or flies on the property, and to provide an opportunity for people to explore and learn more about nature.

Data will be collected using iNaturalist (preferred) or old-fashioned paper (if necessary). There will be an Informational Booth with field guides to help identify organisms, and volunteers will be there to answer questions.

Participants will be able to join a volunteer-led group, create a competitive team, or explore alone. Groups include:

  • Early Birders (7:30-9:00)
  • Nature Enthusiasts (9:30-11:00)
  • Junior Explorers (9:30-11:00)

Competitive teams may collect species data from sunrise to noon.

What to bring

Hiking gear, water, and sharp eyes!
