About the Event
We are thrilled to invite you to celebrate the 10th Anniversary Celebration of Glover’s Ledge on Saturday, September 21, from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM. All are welcome to join this family-friendly event at Glover’s Ledge filled with nature walks, workshops, art presentations, food and drinks, and more! Please register as to what programs you are interested in attending. In June 2014, 76 acres of forested land were generously donated to Antioch University New England (AUNE), followed by an additional 4 acres that includes our Classroom Barn. Over the past decade, Glover’s Ledge has become a cherished space for learning, stewardship, and community engagement. We invite you to join us in celebrating ten years of progress towards our mission of connecting AUNE with the greater Langdon community.
- Slow Birding and Coffee | 8:00 - 9:00 AM Begin your day with a perfect blend of nature, relaxation, and caffeine. Led by Antioch Bird Club and coffee talk provided by the Institute for International Conservation. Binoculars provided.
- Creating Art in Nature | 9:00 - 10:30 AM Discover the art of making artistic creations in nature using natural materials with Sarah Wilson, AUNE alumna and environmental artist/educator. Engage in a creative exploration of nature’s colors and shapes as you and the group create beautiful works of art along the trails, leaving your artistic creations for others to enjoy as they are gradually reclaimed by the elements.
- Walk in the Woods | 10:45 AM - 12:00 PM Take a guided tour of Glover’s Ledge, led by AUNE Professors, to learn about the natural and social history of the area. This walk will highlight the ongoing stewardship projects of current and past AUNE faculty and students such as Bird Banding with Professor Mike Akresh and Trail Camera Wildlife Presentation with Jamie McGucigan Master's Student.
- Lunch/Barbecue at the Pavilion | 12:00 - 1:00 PM Enjoy a provided lunch and social gathering at the community-raised Pavilion, built in 2016. Lawn games will be available. Please fill out the survey to help us prepare and accommodate any dietary restrictions. In addition, join us for a quick talk about our Solar Array installed in 2018.
- ADA All-Person’s Trail Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony | 1:00 - 1:30 PM Join us for the ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of the 1-mile ADA All-Person’s Trail. Shawn Fitzgerald, AUNE CEO, along with other community leaders, will mark this special occasion.
- Explore the ADA All-Person’s Trail and Social | 1:45 - 3:00 PM Conclude the day exploring the newly completed ADA All-Person’s Trail, guided by Ecology Professor Peter Palmiotto, and Jamie McGuigan sharing again on her Trail Wildlife Camera Presentation. Alternatively, you may continue socializing at the Pavilion.
