About the Event

American chestnut trees growing healthy enough to flower and produce fertile nuts are an uncommon finding in New England. Come help us harvest American chestnut burs at this unique location where American chestnut trees are thriving.

Rain Date: Friday, Sept. 27, 2024 - 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM

What to bring

Thick work gloves, or a couple pair that can be doubled up are needed for handling the sharp burs. We will be hiking off trail in thick and uneven brush habitat so long pants and sturdy hiking boots are recommended. With the increase of insect transmitted diseases, tick and mosquito protection are highly recommended. Bring plenty of drinking water to stay hydrated.
