About the Event

Learn how to identify aquatic invasives and be part of the Weed Watchers program to help protect our lakes! The Weed Watchers volunteer program, started by the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services, enables anyone to help protect our lakes against the spread of invasive species by becoming an extra pair of eyes on the lake to spot and report potential invasions. After this training session, you will be able to look for invasive species like variable milfoil on your own and know how to report sightings on Squam as an official Weed Watcher!

What to bring

Volunteers should bring weather appropriate clothing, water, and food. Be sure to bring sun protection! We will be providing kayaks for use, as well as the necessary equipment for surveying. However, you are welcome to bring your own as well as any questions you have.

Youth Instructions

Children must be accompanied by an adult.
