About the Event
Weed crabgrass to prepare the fledgling (planted fall 2021) Monarch Waystation beds in preparation for addition of native grass and clover seeding in later September. The certified Monarch Waystation at Rollins Park in the south end of Concord New Hampshire provides milkweeds, nectar sources, and shelter to sustain monarch butterflies as they migrate through North America. Parking available along Broadway and Bow Streets, and in lot accessed from Bow Street. Monarch Waystation is located uphill from the basketball and tennis court, close to the covered picnic table.
What to bring
Bring your favorite weeding tool, gardening gloves, canteen/drink, hat, sunscreen. Clothing and footwear will likely get dirty. Optional: portable chair for seated rest break, or low chair/pad for comfort while weeding. Additional water available for canteen refills.
Youth Instructions
Youth volunteers with interest in gardening and pollinators welcome. Tips on weeding provided; no experience necessary. For families with younger children there is a nice playground at Rollins Park where children can play/take breaks.
