About the Event

Come on out to McIntire Highlands and help York Land Trust staff recover and partially reroute a trail! McIntire Highlands has been recently forested and experienced significant storm damage from last winter. The trails need considerable attention due to these factors. As a volunteer, you will assist York Land Trust staff in recovering trails on this limited-access preserve, learn trail building techniques, and understand the effects of severe weather on forests in southern Maine. Trail recovery may include clearing debris, trail corridor maintenance, re-blazing trails, rerouting sections of trail and placing new signage on recovered trails. This event is open to trail work beginners and experts alike and is a great opportunity to learn a range of helpful trail work skills.

Due to limited parking at McIntire Highlands, we will meet at the York Land Trust headquarters and carpool to the site. This workday is free and open to the public with registration. This is the second workday at this location. You do not need to have come to Pt. 1 to help out for Pt. 2!

What to bring

Please bring work gloves and water, and wear long sleeves, long pants, and closed-toed shoes that you do not mind getting dirty. This event will take place rain or shine, so bring appropriate clothing for the weather.
