About the Event

SLCS is looking for 10 volunteers to clean up brush on Thompson Road. This trail is a Class 6 road that leads to the top of the Eastman Brook trail on Doublehead Mountain. Our goal is to make the road more accessible, as there is parking at the top.

Our organization manages a beautiful grass clearing at the top of Eastman Brook trail. We would love to advertise our parking lot that is closer to the grass clearing and make it more accessible for everyone to enjoy. Volunteers will primarily be using hand saws to cut back around 2 feet of brush around the road. We plan on doing some cutting back of the brush prior to volunteers arriving with their vehicles to make it easier for them to drive up.

Special Instructions: Parking will be at the parking lot up Thompson road. The beginning of the road has private dwellings, please do not park near those.

What to bring

Please wear closed-toed shoes or boots, long pants, water, snacks, bug protection. Tools will be provided, but if you have a favorite light hand tool, feel free to bring it! There is also a grass clearing with a picnic table located close by that people can use for lunch.

Youth Instructions

People under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
