Paddle with a purpose at the Weed Stampede and help keep Newfound Lake free from invasive aquatic plants! Invasive aquatic plants are a threat to Newfound Lake. They infest new lakes across the state of New Hampshire every year, impacting water quality, decreasing property values, and costing thousands of dollars to manage. Prevention and early detection are key to managing invasive species. The Weed Stampede is an annual volunteer-driven, lake-wide survey of Newfound Lake aimed at identifying and stopping aquatic invasive plants before they damage the ecosystem.

Over the course of this event, volunteer Weed Watchers paddle Newfound's shorelines on the lookout for aquatic invasives. Volunteers are welcome to join at anytime, either day.

Attending a Weed Watcher training is required before attending. Two are available before:

• July 16th from 10am-12pm
• August 15th at 8:30am at the Grey Rocks Conservation Area, 178 North Shore Road, Hebron.
