About the Event
The Southern Maine Beach Profile Monitoring Project tracks erosion and accretion of sand on the beaches of Maine's southern coast. Volunteers go to their home beach once a month to measure the slope of the beach along a transect from the dunes or seawall to the water.
What to bring
Dress for the weather. Wear footwear suitable for walking on the beach that you wouldn't mind getting a little wet. We don't wade into the water but there are often tidepools along the transects.
Youth Instructions
We ask that any minors are accompanied by a parent, guardian, or other responsible adult.
