About the Event

The Visual Resource Inventory (VRI) is a tool developed by the National Park Service to inventory and evaluate views. This process has two equally important parts- scenic quality, which is assessed in the field, and view importance, which is assessed in a meeting setting. Trainees will be eligible to join scenic quality teams for the 2023 season.

If you are thinking about participating in the visual resource inventory project in 2023, this is a required training. The views being assessed this year are mainly located in Maine and West Virginia. Therefore, these virtual trainings this year are primarily for people located in Maine and West Virginia. However, anyone is welcome to join these virtual trainings.

The training will cover the purpose of the visual resource inventory and the details of each part of the process. The training will take place over Zoom on Wednesday, May 10th, 1 p.m. -3 p.m.. A Zoom link for the meeting will be shared with participants upon registration, as well as three days prior to the start date. An alternative date being offered for this training is Thursday, May 11th, 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
