About the Event
Join us for a day of trail work and hiking on North Hancock.
We will be hiking for about 9 miles and gaining over 2500 vertical feet. The work portion of the trip will account for about 2 of those miles, including work on the steepest portion of the trail. All work will be "critical maintenance" - drainage clearing and brush cutting. All tools will be provided by AMC. We will not have any heavy duty rock work or chain saws. No trail work experience is necessary, we will provide instruction. The ability to follow directions and not make up your own trail work methods is critical, as this is the leader's adopted trail and responsibilities extend beyond this one event. While this is a learning experience in terms of trail work, you will need the pre-requisite fitness to hike a 4000 footer with significantly extra weight, due to the tools you will be carrying. While we hope to reach the summit (maybe even both), completing the trail work is the priority of this trip and will take priority over peak bagging goals. Due to the need for screening, the true start time will not be publicly listed.
What to bring
Bring hiking boots, backpack and 10 AMC essentials. All trail work tools will be provided by AMC
