About the Event
Participants will learn hands-on techniques for managing an Early Successional Forest Habitat . The summit area is divided into strips that are cut on a 5-year rotation to maintain structural diversity for wildlife species. Smaller shrub species and other vegetation are left uncut to encourage their foothold. Volunteers will also learn to identify Invasive Plants and will pull them out by the roots.
What to bring
What to Bring: Please bring your hiking/work boots, suncreen, water bottle, bug spray and work gloves (we have spares if you don't have any). All tools and equipment needed will be provided by Mt A. If you want to bring a tool along, we could use extra handsaws and loppers.
Youth Instructions
Youth volunteers are welcome to join the event, but must be accompanied by Parent/Guardian for the duration of the experience.
