About the Event

Join us for a day of planting at Wagon Hill Farm's brand new living shoreline salt marsh restoration site. We will be planting 10,000 Spartina alterniflora low marsh plants by the end of the day! You will learn how to restore a salt marsh and more about this innovative living shoreline project designed to control erosion and allow the restored salt marsh to migrate upland with sea-level rise over time.

This event is organized by the Town of Durham, the University of New Hampshire, and the NH Department of Environmental Services Coastal Program. The event is free. Water and lunch will be provided by the Town of Durham. Park in the parking area near the barn off of Route 4. Walk down the dirt road to the shoreline/beach area to meet the volunteer group and get started planting!

What to bring

Bring gardening gloves (if you have them). Wear rugged shoes or boots, clothes that can get dirty, and weather appropriate gear (sunscreen, hat, rain gear).

Youth Instructions

Youth volunteers are welcome to join so long as an adult guardian is present.
