About the Event
Join York Land Trust staff to help thin cattails in the pond at Near Point Preserve. Cattails are an aggressive native plant that have become overly dominant in the pond near our headquarters. Our goal is to create openings for other plants and diverse habitats for birds and small mammals.
Meet at the Near Point Preserve parking lot at York Land Trust Headquarters. This workday is free and open to the public with registration.
What to bring
We’ll be working around the pond, so please bring muck boots or waders if you have them, and dress in layers appropriate for the weather. Work gloves are also recommended. We’ll provide snacks and drinks, but please bring your own water as well. This event will proceed rain or shine.
Youth Instructions
Youth volunteers under 16 should be accompanied by an adult.
