About the Event

The Newmarket Conservation Commission recently completed a Forest Management Plan for the town's 33-acre Heron Point Sanctuary bordering the scenic Lamprey River with a view across to downtown Newmarket. Among other things, the Plan recommends improvements to trail treads and some trail re-routes to prevent erosion and improve visitor experience.

On this workday we will have a professional trail builder lead us in learning trail building techniques and then work on several sections of new trail, some trail re-routes, and closing sections of unwanted trails. In addition to learning trail techniques and building an improved trail system, you will learn about Heron Point, which was slated for a large subdivision in the 1980s. No experience necessary.
