About the Event
Curious to learn what an active timber harvest looks like? Have questions about how the Forest Society sustainably harvests and manages our forests? Well come experience it for yourself and join Forest Society staff foresters Wendy Weisiger and Steve Junkin for this tour of an active timber harvest on the 209 acre Porter-Rogerson Forest in Tamworth. Carroll County Extension Forester Wendy Scribner and consulting forester Tim Nolan will also provide insight on the management of this predominantly pine woodlot. This field trip involves a moderately easy 1 mile walk with very little elevation gain. Please bring a water bottle and wear sturdy hiking footwear. Pre-registration is required; after registering, you will receive an email with directions to access the meeting location.
What to bring
Bring water and snacks, dress for the weather and wear sturdy hiking footwear.
Youth Instructions
Although the educational content of the tour is geared for adults, children are welcome with supervising adults.
