About the Event
Our profiling volunteers get together once a month and measure the slope of the beach in order to help track erosion. We use a low tech method that involves two poles placed 3 meters apart. Using the horizon as a guide, we record the elevation change between the two poles. This data helps us track erosion and inform beach management decisions.
We profile once a month trying to go out at the lowest tides possible.
What to bring
Beach wear, sunscreen, and footwear for walking on sand. There is no need to go in the water (unless you want to).
Youth Instructions
We do accept youth volunteers, but they will need to have a parent/guardian sign waivers before hand. Under 14 should be accompanied by a parent/guardian during profiling.
