About the Event

We can keep Great Bay clean. Volunteers will be guided by USFWS personnel to closed portions of the refuge where they will gather garbage and debris from the shoreline. Let's promote clean water and a healthy environment for wildlife and people!

This clean-up will be strenuous, involving a 2-mile hike, off-trail work on uneven or sloped terrain; tool use, or heavy lifting of bulky items like tires, dock pieces, and manufactured wood. Youth 14 to under 18 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for the duration of the event. This clean-up is physically demanding and not suitable as a first-time project for children under 14, families with young children, or participants with mobility issues.

We require wearing long pants, long sleeve shirts, and sturdy water-resistant muck boots. Volunteers not properly attired will not be allowed to participate due to safety concerns. Please bring a day-pack with water bottle, bug spray, and work gloves (we have spares if you don't have any). Tools and equipment needed will be provided. Meet at the parking lot at Great Bay National Wildlife Refuge.
