About the Event

Last year, we started restoring the Historic North Charlestown Orchard. This is a multi-year project and we can use all the help we can get! Work includes cleaning up the pruned apple limbs. This involves cutting up large branches for firewood, chipping smaller branches for mulch, raking under trees, and spreading mulch. Even small children are able to put twigs in a pile, but there is a playground as well. Stan McCumber and Jenny Wright, veteran apple tree pruners from Unity will lead the demonstration.

Stick around and help us celebrate the Farwell School's 130th Birthday by taking care of the North Charlestown Orchard and joining us for a barbeque lunch and cake provided by North Charlestown Community School. Come for just 1 or all of these activities! Everything is FREE including lunch. Donations will be accepted for continued care and restoration of the orchard. This is a family friendly event, so bring everyone you know!

What to bring

Please bring water, wear sturdy shoes, dress appropriate for the weather, and bring work gloves, handsaws, and/or rakes if you have them.

Youth Instructions

Children helped move twigs into piles and spread mulch around trees last year. There is also a playground and gaga pit on the school grounds they can play on.
